Dear Band Aid

Dear Band Aid,

Charity isn’t an excuse to spread ignorance and misinformation. Because of the negative stereotypes you help create, for every dollar you raise, you stop the ten that would have come from trade and tourism. You’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. This is to educate you and others like you. This is the true reality of life here, and life there.

It’s Christmas time – there’s a need to be afraid

At Christmas time – the bills pile up – no one can save

And in our world of credit – we still purchase, left and right

And sometimes donate a tad

At Christmas time

We say a prayer – we pray for the other ones

At Christmas time – it’s easy – just move our mouths

For the world outside our window – and it’s a world of ups and downs

Where a kiss of love is held back – to keep death from sweeping in

And the Christmas bells that ring there don’t; as most are staunch Muslims

Well tonight we’re talking; singing about you

Love, life and death this Christmas in West Africa

Where every home there is filled with prayer

As a rule five times a day; for others through the day

Of course they know that it is Christmas time

Here’s to you

Raise a glass to everyone

Here’s to them

And all their years to come

Those we will no longer patronize

See our world – Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time

Of course they know it’s Christmas time
